Danish Idrees, PhD

Postdoctoral Research Scholar, University of Iowa

Danish Idrees is currently working as a Postdoctoral Research Scholar, University of Iowa, Iowa, USA at the Department of Nephrology, Division of Internal Medicine University of Iowa, Iowa, USA. I am currently pursuing a Post-doc in Nephrology with research primarily focused on ion channel physiology to the understanding of kidney diseases. My areas of interest include Structural biology, Biophysics, Molecular biology, Computational drug discovery and Structural bioinformatics. As part of my ongoing research, I am working on a project titled "Structural Insights into Polycytin-1/Polycystin-2 Complex Activation by the N-Terminal fragment of Polycytin-1", which aims to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying polycystin complex activation. By investigating the structural and biochemical interactions between PC-1 and PC-2, particularly the role of the PC-1 N-terminal fragment, research could provide valuable insights into their function in renal physiology and disease, such as autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD). This understanding may pave the way for novel therapeutic strategies targeting polycystin-mediated signaling pathways. Danish Idrees has been awarded UGC-MANF in support of their academic and research pursuits. I have contributed to scientific literature with several publications.
