Urooj Fatima, PhD
Post Doctoral Fellow, UAMS, USA
Dr. Urooj Fatima is a dynamic and passionate researcher currently serving as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), USA. Her cutting-edge research explores the molecular underpinnings of Alzheimer’s disease, with a particular focus on how impaired glucose metabolism, hypoxia, and Tau pathology contribute to neurodegeneration in the aging brain.
Dr. Fatima earned her Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University, India, in 2019, where she pioneered the development of innovative FRET-based genetically encoded nanosensors—powerful tools enabling real-time, non-invasive monitoring of cellular metabolites. She further advanced her research career as a "Young Scientist" at Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, working at the interface of computational and structural biology to design novel drug candidates targeting kinases implicated in cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
Her multidisciplinary expertise spans molecular biology, protein engineering, and neuroscience. With a strong publication record and a drive for impactful discoveries, Dr. Fatima continues to push the boundaries of knowledge in life sciences.
Beyond the bench, she is equally enthusiastic about cooking, fitness, and travel—believing that creativity, vitality, and exploration fuel innovation in science.
